Set against the idyllic backdrop of the Caribbean coast, this captivating mystery unfolds in Buritaca, Colombia. Here, a sixteen-year-old girl named Mary insists that a parrot, known as Gabriel, has told her she is destined to be the mother of a savior for the new millennium. With whispers of virgin birth and the mysterious disappearance of Pablo, suspected to be the child’s father, the village is engulfed in a wave of extraordinary events. Amidst this, Leo Lumière, an Australian student, finds himself entangled in a dilemma between exposing a potential crime and protecting Mary from those who wish her harm.
Holy Parrot seamlessly blends elements of culture, religion, science, and human emotion, creating a narrative that is as compelling as it is enigmatic. It challenges the reader to discern truths from lies, and secrets from revelations, all while painting a vivid picture of a community united under the chant of “Loro Santo” – Holy Parrot.
